Descripción
Estudios sobre la fisiología de estrés abiótico en plantas con especial referencia a las deficiencias y toxicidades de metales, utilizando, entre otras, técnicas de proteómica, metabolómica y diagnóstico a distancia.
Objetivos
- Establecer los ciclos de nutrientes y mejorar las estrategias de corrección de sus carencias en cultivos frutales.
- Establecer los ciclos de nutrientes en frutales y desarrollar tecnologías de diagnóstico precoz, usando madera, brotes y flores.
- Caracterizar los efectos de tratamientos correctores (inyecciones sólidas, aspersión foliar y adición de quelatos al suelo) sobre la composición de savia de xilema y floema, poniendo énfasis en las señales causadas por los tratamientos que puedan afectar a los mecanismos de adquisición de Fe en raíz.
- Establecer la presencia o ausencia de quelatos férricos y productos relacionados en diversas partes de la planta (hojas, savia de xilema y frutos) tras el tratamiento con dichos compuestos.
- Estudiar las pérdidas por lixiviación y la persistencia en el suelo de quelatos férricos sintéticos tras los tratamientos en cultivos frutales.
- Desarrollar nuevas tecnologías de suministro foliar de nutrientes para la corrección de deficiencias en frutales.
- Localizar y caracterizar los acúmulos de Fe inmovilizado en hojas de frutales cloróticos crecidos en campo en los que se presente la llamada paradoja de la clorosis (baja clorofila, alto hierro), utilizando también plantas en cultivo hidropónico en las que se haya inducido esta misma característica.
- Investigar los efectos del cambio climático sobre las plantas, con especial interés en la biología de la vid, y el seguimiento de estreses abióticos (incluidos los asociados al cambio climático) mediante sensores remotos.
- Caracterizar en detalle los cambios que el cambio climático (CO2 elevado, temperatura elevada y sequía) produce en la fisiología de las plantas.
- Estudiar la biología de la vid en un contexto de cambio climático.
- Avanzar en el uso de la teledetección de estrés en plantas, mediante sensores remotos de fluorescencia y reflectancia.
- Caracterizar la homeostasis de metales en plantas mediada por pequeñas moléculas y proteínas.
- Desarrollar metodologías analíticas que permitan la identificación y cuantificación tanto de pequeñas moléculas quelantes de metales (naturales y sintéticas), como de sus quelatos con Fe, Zn y Cd, en soluciones nutritivas y en el interior de las plantas.
- Caracterizar el transporte de los metales Fe, Zn y Cd a larga distancia relacionado con pequeñas moléculas, proteínas y péptidos, tanto en floema como xilema de plantas modelo.
- Caracterizar el transporte de Fe a larga distancia relacionado con pequeñas moléculas, proteínas y péptidos, tanto en floema como xilema de frutales.
- Caracterizar los cambios en los proteomas de raíz y hoja mediados por deficiencia de Fe y Zn y toxicidad de Fe, Zn y Cd. Los estudios incluyen xilema, floema, membrana plasmática, tonoplasto y otros tejidos y compartimentos celulares.
- Estudiar los gradientes relacionados con la homeostasis de metales en hojas y raíces.
